Hello everyone!

How are you doing this beautiful Fall day? It has been a bit warmer than is the norm. I know many of you like this weather, as it takes some time to turn cold. It is always great when things are the way that we like them, but fact of the matter that is not life. Life is not always as we like it. Sometimes it gets very tough and other times we are so happy that we overflow with joy. I try to look at it as simply as possible. If I never had bad times, I could not appreciate the good times. Jesus did tell us to deny ourselves take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). He also said that the one who does not take his cross, and follow Him, is not worthy of Him (Matthew 10:38).

Deny ourselves, definition of deny is “a restraint or limitation of one’s own desires or interests.” Also, a synonym would be, renunciation, to renounce the old life and the choice of personal pleasures. Once a person is “born again” the old things are to pass away. “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV). This means that we, believers, are to be ever living for Christ!

Sad thing is that over the years I have observed “Christian leaders” living for themselves and appearing to not give a thought as to what Jesus would have. It seems that they know what others should do, but they are not doing the basics themselves. They are happy to try and find fault with others who would challenge them to live godly. All the while ignoring the beam in their own eye (Matthew 7:3-5). If this blog seems to be directed at you, it is. It is directed to every person who claims to be born again, man or woman, who is living their life for themselves. Those who are taking for granted, that somehow God will continue to look the other way as you waste your life on worldly pursuits. As you buy new things and feed your addictions all the while making excuse for not giving your tithe and offering to further the cause of Christ! You don’t take time to share your faith, but you can talk about anything else under the sun.

Fact is that you are not taking up your cross daily and following Him. Bottom line, that is unacceptable! The church has accepted lukewarm service for too long now. We are living in the Laodicean church age, “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would that thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked;” (Revelation 3:14-17 KJV).

The church today is a powerless church, an anemic church, it is in need of a blood transfusion, there is power in the blood of the Lamb! We have marching orders; we are commanded to reach the world (Matthew 28:18-20). The world will never be reached with a self-serving, self-centered church. Let us do an about face and spend our lives for Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:57).

More next time…
