Hello everyone!

I trust that the week is going well for you! As the weather turns cooler, I find myself being happier and in a much better mood. Isn’t it something that the weather can make us happier and sometimes it makes us sad. When the weather suits us its good and when it doesn’t its not so good. I wonder how that fits into the Scripture that says, “This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:24 KJV. So, it says that we WILL rejoice and be glad. Interesting how we can allow the least little thing to discourage us and get us off track. That is why I used the weather, we all have a preference, some like to hot, some like it warm, some like it cool, and some like it cold. We all have favorites; I like the rain and I like snow. Others like heat and sun.

The problem with this is not what you prefer, it’s how you deal with the things that you do not like. Do you keep a good attitude, or does your joy dissipate when things aren’t to your liking? The mature Christian should know how to take the good and the bad, without allowing it to discourage you. Two verses of Scripture should encourage us, “Rejoice in the Lord alway, and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4; and “Rejoice evermore.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16 KJV. And there are many other Scriptures that encourage us to rejoice, be glad, praise the Lord. All of these require that we should be happy.

Paul told us, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11 KJV. I believe that God, through Paul, is trying to tell us to not allow outside things to discourage us. True happiness comes from within. If we live our lives with a heart of praise toward God, then the other stuff will not affect us so much.

You like the rain, but its sunny outside, thank God for the sunshine. You like the sunshine, but its raining outside, thank God for the rain. Apply this to whatever it is that can get you down, start thanking God for it all. Start the day by thanking God for a new day, new opportunities, new joys, and learn from the circumstances that come your way! Allow Romans 8:28 to be real in your life! “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” All things, not just the ones that we like. Give God a chance to work in your life, through the things that you like and the things that you do not like.

This is how we grow and how we are conformed to the image of Jesus! Rejoice in the Lord, and again I say REJOICE!

More next time…
